SimMan Trauma Simulator

Organized by the Rotary Club of Lviv-Ratysha in Ukraine, the SimMan Trauma Manikin Project provides a hands-on trauma simulator for the students of Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University in Ukraine.

The simulator presents realistic trauma scenarios which allow the students to practice intervention with real-time feedback. The project was funded by Rotary International Global Grant 2464923, in collaboration with the following Rotary clubs in the United States:

  • Rotary Club of Signal Hill

  • Rotary Club of Huntington Beach

  • Rotary Club of Buena Park

Many thanks to Dr. Oksana Zayachkivska from American University Health Science, Signal Hill, CA, and Dr. Ihor Kukhlevskyy and Andriy Beyzyk from Lviv-Ratysha Rotary Club, Ukraine, in coordinating the project.

David Omut from the American University of Health Sciences transported the simulator from the United States to Poland and trained the group of instructors from Lviv National Medical University, Lviv, Ukraine (LNMU) in Krakow, Poland. The new Trauma Emergency Medicine Course with SImMan simulation will be introduced in LNMU from the Spring 2025.

Here is the testimonial from Volodymyr Marina, MD, PhD, Director of SimCenter:

Impact of SimMan Essential in final-year students education

Adding SimMan Essential to our medical training has greatly improved the way how students learn. This patient simulator makes lessons more hands-on and realistic, allowing students to practice diagnosing and treating different conditions in a safe setting. It helps them develop critical thinking, teamwork, and confidence when handling emergencies, making the transition to real-life patient care much smoother.

SimMan Essential also gives students more opportunities to learn and improve. They can practice as many times as needed without risk, take part in realistic medical scenarios, and work with peers from different fields. This technology ensures they are well-prepared for real world challenges, making them more skilled, confident, and ready to provide excellent patient care.
