Returning to Earth
Why prevent the inevitable? A traditional burial attempts at postponing the process of decomposition, by embalming the body, by encasing the body in multiple layers of concrete, metal, and wood. Yet at the end, time will make a mockery of all this futile effort.
Cremation creates tons of greenhouse gasses in the process. In addition, the end products is not even recognizably human. Literally, the ashes are a mere shadow of oneself.
That’s when green burial comes in. The process protects the environment and allows family members to become much involved in the farewell ritual. Instead of a professional and sterile method, green burial technique is much more hands-on.
As a lover of nature, Les would certainly prefer this way of rejoining the earth and becoming stardust again.
